ONA22: Student Newsroom and Innovation Lab

The Student Newsroom and Innovation Lab immerses undergraduate and graduate college students in a digital media environment by providing hands-on experience during the Online News Association conference.

This year, 20 select students will produce content and tools for the ONA22 Student Newsroom under the personal guidance of professional mentors.

As part of the application, students are asked what they would like to implement as part of their role in the Student Newsroom and Innovation Lab. These projects have ranged from unexpected story ideas, to creative storytelling techniques, to new tools built by participants themselves. We’re looking for students who exhibit strong problem-solving skills and want to experiment at the intersection of product and content.

Applications for students close on June 23. Take a look at the great work produced by the ONA Student Newsroom at ONA19 and Virtual Student Newsroom at ONA21.

This opportunity is open to ONA’s global community.
