Rossana Longo Better

Community Engagement Coordinator,

Colorado News Collaborative (contractor)

Rossana Longo Better is the community engagement coordinator and, as a consultant, helps strengthen connections among COLab media partners and their communities.

As a multiethnic immigrant from Ecuador, with dual citizenship, Rossana brings a unique focus of amplifying community-based solutions to address issues that affect underserved populations.  She also represents the fastest-growing, yet least represented, demographic in media.  Rossana’s passion is to provide information with — and for — underrepresented communities and promote equity in media.

Rossana graduated from the University of Colorado in 2018 with a masters in Media and Public Engagement. She became the bilingual equity reporter for KGNU Community Radio in 2019, and still contracts with the station. Rossana also contributes as the climate change correspondent for Radio Bilingue, a national Latino public radio network. At KGNU, Rossana led the production of the investigative Trends Podcast — a complement to the Trends Magazine — since September of 2019. The podcast covers issues that directly affect the most marginalized populations, such as: low-income housing, people with disabilities, isolation of the elderly, lack of diversity, the gender pay gap, and soil restoration. Rossana continues to volunteer as a host of various shows at KGNU, including Pasa La Voz (in Spanish), Storytellers of Color, and the Connections Call-in Show.
